The two Nairobi nights protect arrival and recovery. JKIA pickup follows your confirmed international arrival, and the Wilson transfer follows the ticketed bush flight. The northern-to-Mara day may occupy much of the day with a through-service or connection. Ukunda receives the beach-arrival flight; the included final transfer is Diani–Mombasa airport. Coast departure is assessed before ticketing rather than forcing a Nairobi return.

Exclusive regional camp vehicles and guides, with five full wildlife days across the three safari chapters. Additional arrival or departure viewing depends on the flights and access timing. Ordinary guide-led interpretation, the consent-based knowledge exchange within normal operations and the scenic meal candidate described in the days are included; separately hosted premium events are not.

Kalama conservancy access, two planned Samburu reserve excursions, Mara North conservancy access, one Mara main-reserve excursion, the planned Kitirua conservation collection and Amboseli National Park access for the stated programme.

The shape of your journey

Begin with time to recover in Nairobi. Travel through Samburu's northern landscapes, the Maasai Mara's grasslands and Amboseli's elephant country, then settle into four nights in Diani. The Kenya Passage connects five distinct chapters, with private ground arrangements and space to experience each place beyond the transfer in and out.

Day-by-day itinerary

Chapter 01 / Days 1–2

Nairobi

Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi and settle in

Planned start: Scheduled around your confirmed international arrival, not a fixed daily pickup.

Complete entry formalities and collect your luggage before meeting the representative at the agreed landside meeting point. Your joining instructions identify the person/contact to use if you cannot immediately find the driver. Travel privately to your accommodation, complete check-in and use the remaining time to rest. The following day is protected for recovery. There is no need to fit a city excursion between a long-haul arrival and the first safari flight. Dinner is included; for a late landing we arrange an appropriate late or light meal with the property rather than assume the restaurant will remain open. No attraction or game drive is scheduled today.

Road movement: Approximately 15–25 km from JKIA to the planned Nairobi base; allow around 30–90 minutes after meeting your driver. This excludes immigration, baggage reclaim and customs. Traffic or road works can extend the transfer.

Day 2: Recover, orientate and prepare for the safari chapters

Planned start: No compulsory early start; agree a convenient late-morning orientation time.

Sleep, have breakfast and take time to adjust. At a convenient time, meet or speak with the journey team to review the five chapters, room arrangements, safari-flight baggage and how to reach support. Repack into the agreed soft luggage and keep camera equipment within the flight allowance. Lunch and dinner are included today. Use the rest of the day at the property, with a pool or other facility only according to its actual operating arrangements. A Nairobi activity can be discussed if you feel rested, but it is neither compulsory nor included by default.

Road movement: No required transfer. Optional city activities need their own traffic allowance and a separate confirmed booking.

Chapter 02 / Days 3–5

Samburu

Day 3: Fly north to Kalama / Samburu

Planned start: Approximately 08:00–08:30 pickup for the current 09:45 Wilson service; final time is ticket-specific.

Eat breakfast, check the soft bags and meet your private transfer driver. At Wilson, allow time for baggage weighing and the carrier’s departure process. On arrival in the north, your resident regional guide meets the booked flight and brings you to camp. Have lunch, settle into the room and take a rest during the warm part of the day. An afternoon private drive around 15:30–18:00 is planned when timing permits, followed by dinner. The arrival route introduces Kalama; Samburu National Reserve is a separate outing.

Road movement: The nearby accommodation–Wilson transfer is usually around 5–10 km / 15–30 minutes; more time is allowed if traffic requires. At destination, allow approximately 20–60 minutes to the hillside camp; the receiving team confirms the actual track and timing.
Scheduled-air movement: Shared scheduled Wilson–Kalama service, with the current northern schedule allowing about one hour to the first stop. Additional airstrip calls can extend your journey. Aim to report at Wilson at least 60 minutes before departure, or earlier if instructed. Pack around 15 kg combined luggage per traveller in soft bags; the ticketed carrier’s allowance controls. Cameras count towards the applicable allowance; extra equipment needs prior arrangement.

Day 4: Samburu’s river country and dry-land adaptations

Planned start: Approximately 06:00–06:30 for the planned reserve excursion.

Use the first full northern day for Samburu National Reserve. Your resident guide interprets the contrast between river habitat and dry country, including the adaptations of the animals encountered. Reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and beisa oryx are distinctive regional possibilities; none is a guaranteed sighting. Arrange an early or packed breakfast and a picnic or camp lunch to avoid unnecessary repeated access journeys. Rest during the hottest period where the chosen route permits. Return for dinner; a further short Kalama drive is considered only if it makes sense after the main outing.

Road movement: Allow roughly 45–90 minutes for an access leg from the Kalama base to the agreed reserve gate, depending on tracks and the route. Local viewing and stops are additional.

Practical note: The accommodation is in Kalama, not on the Ewaso Nyiro river inside Samburu Reserve. The distinction affects access time and the type of scenery at the room.

Day 5: A second northern day at your party’s pace

Planned start: Approximately 06:00–06:30 if taking another reserve outing; a camp-focused alternative can start later.

The approved programme allows a second reserve visit, giving another chance to follow the wildlife and habitats that interested you. An early breakfast or pack, a considered morning route and lunch with a proper rest period work better than driving throughout the hottest hours. With your guide, make room for a consent-based conversation about local knowledge and the landscape when a willing host is available. This is not a staged performance or permission to photograph people without asking. A late private outing is possible if the day remains comfortable. Return for dinner and the Mara flight briefing.

Road movement: For the second planned Samburu outing, allow the reserve-access driving described on Day 4. If your party chooses a Kalama-focused programme before access is committed, local loops replace that transfer.

Chapter 03 / Days 6–8

Maasai Mara

Day 6: Fly from Kalama to the Mara

Planned start: Approximately 09:30–10:00 departure from camp, adjusted to the operating flight.

Have breakfast, complete checkout and let the guide reconfirm the service before leaving for the strip. The two camps coordinate lunch: it can be a packed meal during a longer connection or a late meal after arrival. Your Mara resident guide meets the actual landing strip and transfers you privately to camp. Take a short orientation drive only if the final arrival leaves a sensible window; a late arrival is followed by dinner and rest. This is a movement day, even if the aircraft passes over wildlife country.

Road movement: Allow roughly 20–60 minutes to Kalama airstrip. At the Mara end, plan about 30–60 minutes from the matched airstrip to camp; the selected strip is confirmed with your accommodation.
Scheduled-air movement: Shared scheduled Kalama–Maasai Mara service. The published northern pattern is around 11:00–13:00, but intermediate stops and a Wilson connection/through-service can apply. In a connected pattern, Mara arrival may be later in the afternoon. Allow roughly 4–7 hours door to door, not just the airborne portion. Usable experience time: A substantial travel day. An afternoon conservancy outing is a possibility, not part of the full-day wildlife count.

Day 7: Follow behaviour through a complete Mara North day

Planned start: Approximately 06:15–06:30 for the private morning drive.

Let the morning develop around the behaviour you find rather than a checklist. A guide-led explanation of tracks, movement or interaction can make an ordinary-looking scene absorbing. Where the camp’s permitted operations and weather allow, take the included ordinary breakfast in a scenic setting; this is not a promise of a private event venue or an extra premium menu. Return for lunch and rest, then set out again around 15:30–18:00. Discuss any permitted walk or later conservancy activity with the camp before substituting it for a drive. Dinner is at camp.

Road movement: Private local wildlife loops; distance depends on sightings and the permitted route rather than a fixed transfer mileage. Tracks can be uneven, dusty or muddy.

Day 8: A full reserve excursion beyond the conservancy

Planned start: Approximately 06:15–06:30, with packed-meal arrangements made the previous evening.

Take the included main-reserve excursion with an early or packed breakfast and picnic lunch. It adds another Mara perspective to the conservancy chapter. The route responds to wildlife, weather and your interests; a migration-season visit still cannot promise herds at a particular place or a crossing. Choose a realistic circuit with time to observe and stop comfortably. Return for dinner and prepare for the Amboseli flight. If you prefer to stay within the conservancy, request that change before reserve arrangements are committed.

Road movement: A reserve sector can require roughly 1–2 hours of access driving each way, with additional wildlife loops. The guide discusses the benefit of a distant river area against the extra time in the vehicle.

Chapter 04 / Days 9–10

Amboseli

Day 9: Fly from the Mara to Amboseli

Planned start: Approximately 09:30–10:00 camp departure for the current late-morning service; ticket and strip determine the final time.

Have breakfast, complete checkout and transfer privately to the strip. Today’s planned movement takes priority over a morning drive. Meet your Amboseli resident guide on landing and continue privately to camp. Lunch is included, with a packed or late meal arranged if the operating schedule requires it. Settle into the tent and rest. An afternoon drive around 15:30–18:00 is planned only when arrival leaves a worthwhile window. Dinner is at camp, and the guide introduces the next day’s wetland and elephant focus.

Road movement: Allow around 30–60 minutes to the booked Mara airstrip. At Amboseli, the planned camp is approximately 45–60 minutes by road from the airstrip.
Scheduled-air movement: Shared scheduled Mara–Amboseli service; the current published pattern is approximately 11:30–12:30. Calls at other strips or a revised routing can alter the elapsed time. Day 10: Amboseli elephants and the ecology of water

Planned start: Approximately 06:15–06:30 for a private morning drive.

Explore the park in the cool morning, with breakfast at camp or as a pack. Give the guide time to explain how elephants and other wildlife use the wetland margins and surrounding dry ground. Viewing is based on actual animal movements, not a promised close encounter. Return for lunch and rest, then take another drive around 15:30–18:00. Kilimanjaro can add a remarkable backdrop when cloud clears; the mountain is not guaranteed to be visible. Dinner and the coast-flight briefing complete the final full safari day.

Chapter 05 / Days 11–15

Diani

Day 11: Fly to Ukunda and begin the Diani chapter

Planned start: Approximately 10:45–11:15 camp departure for the current early-afternoon service; final pickup is flight-specific.

Have breakfast and use the morning for packing and a comfortable departure. A short outing is possible only if the confirmed schedule and park access allow; it is not included in the full-wildlife-day count. Take an included packed lunch or the meal arrangement agreed around the flight. On landing at Ukunda, meet the private coast driver and transfer to the beachfront property. Settle into the room and spend any remaining afternoon at your own pace. Ordinary dinner is included.

Road movement: Allow approximately 45–60 minutes to Amboseli airstrip. The private Ukunda–Diani transfer is usually around 5–10 km / 15–30 minutes.
Scheduled-air movement: Shared scheduled Amboseli–coast service with Ukunda selected for Diani. The current published pattern is approximately 12:45–13:45, subject to coast stops and operating changes. Allow roughly 3–5 hours from camp checkout to the beach property. There is no compulsory excursion and no promised marine-wildlife encounter.

Day 15: Leave Diani for your onward journey

Planned start: Your pickup is calculated from the confirmed flight, check-in requirement and traffic allowance.

Have breakfast if flight timing permits, check your bags and settle personal room charges before the private transfer. We work backwards from your airline’s reporting time rather than advertise one departure time for every traveller. The package ends at Mombasa airport. An international departure from the coast may avoid a Nairobi return, but flight availability and ticket connections must be checked before you book the onward ticket. A Nairobi positioning flight or an extra overnight, if needed, is a separately agreed addition.

What is included

14 nights in the locations and accommodation standard shown, on the confirmed adult twin/double-sharing basis.
Meals exactly as shown for each day, including stated packed lunches or late-meal arrangements. Where a meal is included, the precise menu and service follow the confirmed property arrangement.
The standard house-drinks selection and selected laundry at the planned premium safari camps under their booked ground packages. Premium drinks, special laundry and Nairobi/coast drinks are excluded unless stated.

OPTIONAL EXTRA — HOT-AIR BALLOON SAFARI. Any indicative research amount below is not a checkout price; the final VAT-inclusive optional-extra quotation must be confirmed separately before selection. Current indicative 2026 research reference: approximately USD 475 per adult. This is additional to the package price, subject to availability and subject to weather and operational conditions. Operator pricing may change; the final rate is confirmed before booking. The operator sets age, mobility and participation conditions. A balloon morning replaces part of the usual drive programme and needs a separate transfer plan; it is not an additional full safari day.

A Mara balloon flight; a different room or suite with a specific benefit; a hosted community visit; a privately arranged celebration or dining venue; an appropriate marine outing; or extra nights. A charter aircraft, camp buyout or one guide accompanying all stages would be explicitly quoted. The ordinary coast dinner is included; a premium farewell event is not.

When to travel

The route is designed around contrasting habitats and resident wildlife, so it does not depend on migration timing. January–February and the generally drier June–October period can suit the combination, with exact dates checked across the camps and coast. Rain can change roads, flight operations and activity choices, and some properties have seasonal operating periods. July–September can mean greater demand and busier Mara sightings. A river crossing, a clear Kilimanjaro or calm sea conditions cannot be promised.

Who this journey suits

The full journey suits travellers who value a protected arrival, three wildlife chapters and enough coast time to settle. Its premium planned camps, ground privacy, conservancy access and four scheduled-air movements explain the commercial position. Couples can discuss room location and celebration options. Families need an age-specific room and vehicle configuration; a suitable Mara North family room or suite remains a conditional configuration where operationally available, not a standard adult-price substitution.

Family prices are individually configured against ages at travel, room occupancy, flight rules where applicable, park fees and the vehicle required. Do not apply the adult-sharing figure to a child or assume that two children can use the same room arrangement at every camp. A six-adult case is not a family quotation.

Luggage, access and preparation

Plan for the ticketed carrier’s allowance on every sector, currently modelled around 15 kg combined soft luggage per traveller. Use the Nairobi recovery day to reorganise bags. Cameras count within the applicable allowance unless the airline confirms otherwise. Extra equipment, an extra seat or forwarding a larger bag to the coast must be arranged and costed separately.

Three safari bases and several small-aircraft boardings mean the complete route needs individual access assessment. The planned Kalama accommodation’s hillside rooms, camp paths, vehicle steps and the chosen beach room matter. Tell us about mobility, medical equipment or other essential requirements before agreeing room categories and flights. Private vehicles offer flexibility but do not remove physical access barriers.

Bring light layers, sun protection, practical footwear, a camera and binoculars if you use them. Early game drives can feel cool. Confirm charging arrangements for essential equipment; a property offering electricity or Wi-Fi does not guarantee continuous power or a strong connection in every room or wildlife area. Ask about important dietary needs before confirmation. Is this 15 days or 14 days?

It is 15 days and 14 nights in Kenya. Arrival is Day 1 and departure is Day 15. Travel from home and the return journey may require additional calendar days.

How many full wildlife and beach days are there?

The structure provides five full days based in wildlife regions and three full days at the coast, plus one Nairobi recovery day. Six other days contain arrival, inter-destination movement or departure. Extra viewing on those days depends on the final timings.

Are all flights direct and private?

No. The standard uses shared scheduled safari aircraft, and an operating route may include intermediate stops or a connection. Your proposal confirms the route and airstrip arrangements for the dates requested.

What luggage can I take on safari flights?

The confirmed carrier and fare determine the baggage allowance, bag type and arrangements for extra equipment. Tell us about camera equipment or other needs early. We provide the applicable requirements with your travel arrangements rather than promise one allowance for every sector.

Can the trip work without seeing a river crossing or Kilimanjaro?

Yes. Its three wildlife regions offer contrasting habitats and experiences. Crossings, particular sightings and clear mountain views are possibilities, not components we can guarantee.

Can we travel as a family or finish before the beach?

Both can be discussed. Family suitability depends on ages, rooms and activities. An earlier finish needs a workable onward connection and a revised proposal; it does not automatically create a direct international departure.

How is the price confirmed?

We prepare a proposal for your dates, party, rooms and confirmed scope. It identifies what is included, optional items, payment currency and booking conditions, so you can assess the complete arrangement before paying.

Are the accommodation or family rooms already held?

No. The page describes the agreed accommodation standard and location. Your dated quotation identifies the actual proposed/confirmed property, room category, occupancy and meal arrangement. A family room or suite configuration is subject to availability and a family-specific quotation; an enquiry or page view does not hold it.

What happens if our international arrival is delayed?

The two Nairobi nights provide recovery space, but they do not insure every disruption. Tell the team promptly so the handover and first safari movement can be reviewed. Replacement rooms, flights or other changed services may have costs governed by the booking terms.

Are Diani lunches and the farewell dinner included?

The beach stay includes breakfast and ordinary dinner, including the final evening’s ordinary meal. Lunch on the Amboseli–coast movement day is included; lunches on the three full Diani days are additional. A private farewell venue, premium menu or elaborate celebration is a separate optional arrangement.

Can we add a balloon flight without changing the route?

It may fit a full Mara morning, subject to the operator’s availability and conditions. It is outside the base price and replaces part of that morning’s ordinary programme; it does not create an additional full safari day.

Do we have one guide throughout all five chapters?

You have resident regional guides and exclusive safari vehicles at the three wildlife bases, with private transfers and a Kenya-based journey coordinator. Aircraft, camps and general facilities remain shared. One travelling escort throughout would be a separately confirmed service.
